How to choose a UTV roll cage

A cage is the one part on your machine you hope never gets tested. Start with how you ride: dunes and desert runs put load on the rear hoop and roof, while tight trail and rock work is harder on the A-pillars and door bars.

Bolt-in vs. weld-in. Bolt-in cages use the factory mounting points and can be installed at home with hand tools — the right call for most riders. Weld-in cages tie directly into the chassis for maximum rigidity and are typically chosen for race or heavily modified builds.

Height and clearance. A low-profile cage drops the roofline for a meaner stance and easier trailering; a stock-height cage keeps helmet clearance for taller riders. Measure with your seat and helmet on before you decide.

Seats and harnesses. If you're running 4- or 5-point harnesses, plan the harness bar with the cage so the shoulder angle is correct. Retrofitting one later usually costs more.

Fitment FAQs

Common questions

Which machines do you build cages for?
We build for Polaris RZR 800, RZR 900, RZR XP 1000 and Turbo, Can-Am Maverick X3 (64" and 72"), and Honda Talon. If your rig isn't listed, send us the year, model and width — most builds are possible.
Do I need to send in my machine?
No. Cages are built to model-specific fixtures and ship to you for bolt-in or weld-in install. We just need your exact model, year and cab configuration (2-seat or 4-seat).
How long does a custom cage take?
Build time depends on the queue and your spec. We confirm a lead time in writing with your quote before any deposit — no guessing.
Can I add a roof, harness bar, or light mounts?
Yes. Roofs, harness bars, spare-tire carriers, light bar tabs and rear bumper tie-ins can all be integrated into the cage instead of bolted on afterward.
