DESCRIPTION

EVP DISCLAIMER: The EVP TAPP Secondary places the helix and spring on the outward-facing side of the clutch; the OEM secondary has these components facing the transmission. An EVP Clutch Cover Spacer Kit is recommended for H2 TAPP secondaries to allow the OEM clutch cover to fit and keep debris out.

OEM issues addressed by the TAPP secondary:

• OEM uses a very steep helix and a large spring for belt tension. TAPP uses a dual-angle helix and an adjustable torsional/compression-style spring.
• Helix ramps on the TAPP are replaceable for tuning; the OEM helix angle is not changeable.
• OEM secondary lacks cooling fins and has an enclosed steel helix/shaft that traps heat. TAPP has machined cooling fins and an open aluminum helix/spring to dissipate heat and keep the belt cooler.
• OEM spring/helix assemblies contain grease that can leak onto the belt and primary clutch. TAPP avoids this.

• Larger helix surface to use wider rollers and better distribute loads.
• Replaceable helix ramps for easy angle changes.
• Torsionally adjustable spring tension via an adjustable helix cap.
• Improved shift characteristics, lower belt temps, and longer belt life. At the 400 wheel horsepower level, switching to the TAPP secondary yielded an additional 15-20 horsepower to the wheels in testing.
